But let me now say that I am a full-on trick-or-treating convert. Because trick-or-treating was quite possibly the most thrilling event of Sylvie's young life. She simply could not believe that this was really happening to her. And she figured it out fast. First, she would go up to the to door and ring the bell. Then she would select her piece of candy. Next, she would do the sign for "thank you," which is putting your hand to your chin. Then, as her hand was coming down from her chin, she would help herself to a second piece of candy. Due to her young age, this seemed to be accepted as adorable. Then, she would request a piece of candy for her Dada. So Sylvie left every house with no less than 3 pieces of candy (yes, we needed more cups). And as she left, on the way down every driveway, she did a happy dance of joy. So I am now most definitely pro trick-or-treating. Here is Sylvie on the trail...

Halloween '08: Trick-or-Treating
I will admit that I wasn't really too sure about the trick-or-treating thing. I will also admit that Sylvie's first "brithday cake" was a bran muffin, so let's just say that the idea of her walking around getting endless amounts of candy was sort of terrifying to me. But we took Grandma and Grandpa over to our friends the Blackmans' house for a Halloween potluck, and all of the friends were ready for trick-or-treating, so it was time for me to get on board. I gave Sylvie a plastic cup in an effort to limit her stash (funnest mom ever!!) and off we went.

I agree, it was so fun to see Mattie grab candy out of people's bowls and get all excited that she was allowed to do so! Too bad she didnt get to eat any of it..... :(
