Escrow closed on our new (and first!) house this past Friday! Thomas and my dad have worked pretty much non-stop at the house ever since, with my mom and I swapping Sylvie care and our own work at the house as well. It is an exciting and busy time. We bought the house as a foreclosure and it has been vacant for a year. So there are lots of little projects to get it move-in ready.
Sylvie in the living room...this big front room and the beautiful, 70 year-old hardwood floors are 2 of the things that we love most about the house.

Our little helper, safety first! Actually, for the most part, Sylvie is not around for the renovations. It is definitely not baby-proofed around there.

But she does like to bring the workers lunch every day!

This beautiful hibiscus tree is in the front yard. Hummingbirds love it!

A wall in Sylvie's room had a soft spot which was a giant hole that previous owners had patched up using only drywall tape. Dad turned it back into a hole...

and then drywalled it back into a wall.

Thomas sanding the living room wall (and looking slightly
exasperated with his wife's picture taking!).

P.S. and totally unrelated: There is
a great op-ed in the N.Y. Times today that gives some of the recent research showing what us moms already know - babies are smarter than people think!
