The New BBQ

For the last several years, Thomas has done his grilling on the little propane BBQ that used to live on the patio at my grandma Sylvia's condo in Leisure World. It served us well, but Thomas loves to grill so one of the things he was most excited about when we bought our house was getting a good BBQ for the backyard. This week, he finally got it. Last night at 9:30 p.m., the BBQ was set up, hooked to the gas line, and Thomas celebrated with a hot dog.I thought Thomas and his BBQ deserved a better celebration than that, so today Sylvie and I surprised him by buying all the ingredients for his favorite dinner: steak, potatoes with sour cream, asparagus and corn on the cob. We also threw in a chocolate cupcake from Miss Priss Cupcakes to split 3 ways. It was soooo good and a much more fitting celebration for Thomas and his BBQ. And I was reminded of how much I LOVE a BBQ when Thomas grilled the entire dinner, Sylvie played outside and I snuggled into bed with my book until dinner was ready.
