Juicing: It's citrus season and we are up to our ears in good stuff from friend's and family's citrus trees. Good thing Sylvie loves making juice with our little lime squeezer. Her homemade juice is typically a concoction of tangerine, orange, grapefruit and lemon.
Papa's Birthday Present: You will
recall from last year that we like to go with handmade, sentimental gifts when it comes to Sylvie's Papa. Since Papa is a gentlemen that likes to carry a hankie, we chose this
idea from Martha and made handmade handkerchiefs for Papa featuring Sylvie's artwork. We used fabric markers and Sylvie made 6 with scenes of her favorite things to do with Papa like "Dog Beach" and "Playing Legos." I think Papa is going to really love blowing his nose into these bad boys, don't you?
Gardening: In the front yard, our winter garden is slowly being eaten up and is on its way out. Sylvie loves our celery, especially filled with peanut butter and raisins.

And our new backyard veggie garden is in! Pole beans, zucchini, Japanese cucumbers, yellow bell peppers, onions, a few types of tomatoes, 3 kinds of lettuce, spinach and strawberries. Thomas worked so hard getting this space ready for us. Along the back wall is purple hopseed bush, recommended as a privacy screen by our landscaping expert friend (and Dylan's daddy), Aaron.
Yoga: Sylvie is totally crazy about the
(Silly to Calm is her favorite) and we are having a lot of fun practicing together. Here is Sylvie relaxing with Daddy and a boat on her belly so she can see how her breath makes the boat float up and down.
St. Patrick's Day Rainbows: Sylvie and I both liked making this
colored rice rainbow. First you dye and mix the rice all of the colors of the rainbow (with food coloring, or as Sylvie calls it, "rain drops"). Then you glue your rice onto the rainbow. So you learn about color mixing, practice some fine motor, get a little creative, and then, as Sylvie says, "it looks fabulous!"

Today we are planning to make a rainbow out of fruit to take to Grandma and Papa's tonight for St. Paddy's Day dinner.
Discovering Fennel: There is a booth at our farmers market that sells some slightly less usual produce, and it's from that booth that I decided to give fennel a try. The smell is amazing and this
Roast Chicken with Fennel is easy and good and makes enough sauce to serve it with plain 'ol cous cous. Roast chicken is a Sylvie & Thomas favorite dinner, and the fennel is a nice new spin. I'm also going to give this
Chicken in a Crock Pot a try soon.
