Nora's First Week

This has been such a special week and there are so many things I want to remember about it. Nora is precious, sweet, content and snuggly. Sometimes when she sleeps she makes a soft little snorting sound, or as Sylvie puts it, "she snores like a rhino."

Grandparents have been especially generous with their time, and Sylvie has had many special outings to places like dog park, Petco and the Aquarium to keep her busy and give me some time to get to know Nora. We are thankful for our many visitors who have come bearing food for us and gifts for both Nora and Sylvie. The big sister gifts made Sylvie feel very special as she gets the hang of this big sis thing. On the one hand, Sylvie definitely feels that all the time Mommy is spending rocking Nora would be better spent playing dress-up, restaurant or Hungry, Hungry Hippo. On the other hand, Sylvie is just as compassionate and loving towards Nora as we expected she would be. She kisses her soft head constantly and loves counting her tiny toes. Today when Nora was fussy Sylvie told her, "It's okay, Nor-bugs, milk will make it all better." She is genuinely helpful to me, grabbing diapers, wipes and burp cloths as necessary. And she would help even more if she could. ("I can carry her to the car!") It's been a wonderful week for our family.
