Ready for the 4th

Sylvie loves holidays, so yesterday I told her that Sunday is the 4th of July, which is America's birthday. She thought about that for a couple of seconds and then asked, "How will we give Obama his present?" I told her presents for Pres. Obama weren't necessary but the idea definitely stuck. Later during a trip to Target as we passed the card section she asked, "Do we need a card for Obama?"And after we made these festive coffee filter fireworks she said, "Obama's gonna just love these. He's gonna say, 'those are so pretty, Sylvie and Mama.'"
Sylvie and I have been having fun lately experimenting with different ice pop concoctions, so today we made delicious and patriotic ice pops using this method. When I asked Sylvie what we should use for the red and blue she suggested strawberries and blueberries, but the white layer was a little trickier. Sylvie suggested paper. When I asked her if paper sounded yummy she had to admit that it did not, so we used yogurt instead.

Happy and Safe 4th to Everybody!
