We are home from 10 gorgeous, fun-filled days in San Jose del Cabo with Grandma and Papa. This was definitely one of the most fun vacations of all time. The pool and beaches were empty, the weather was beautiful, and the kids had the best time ever. Sylvie really could not have had more fun. She told us before we left that her plan was to spend 11 hours a day in the pool. But when she was actually in Cabo she found that it was best to forfeit just a few of those pool hours for beach time, game time (Sequence for Kids is her current favorite), movie nights, the playground, fantastic restaurants (Sylvie really liked the grilled octopus on a chickpea puree) and shopping in the Mexican market. It was definitely a vacation to remember and such a treasured, special family time.
Nora checks out a lizard on the pathway of our condo complex on her way to the pool.
And eats crackers by the pool.
Our pool had a swim-up bar where Sylvie liked to run a pretend smoothie bar with Papa and Grandma.
Sylvie looks so innocent here but she is actually filling up a water gun and getting ready for a sneak attack.
Papa and Sylvie in the surf...
Nora is our little sand baby. She can't get enough of the sand and her sand toys. Sylvie is more of a water girl but occasionally joins Norsie on the sand.
Our sandy sand girl hard at work.
In a marketplace for lunch, Nora tries a lime and decides it's both sour and funny.
Nora and I out on the porch of our condo. It had a great outdoor living space with a couch, coffee table, lounge chairs and a dining table so we spent a lot of time out there.
And this was the view.
Sylvie and Thomas spent so much beach time together.
One day a swarm of little jellyfish made one of our favorite swim beaches unswimable. We spent some time looking at the jellyfish and then moved on to another beach.
Here the girls have been banished to the patio with their yogurt pops. As you may be able to tell from Sylvie's pajamas, the yogurt pops were breakfast.
We had so much fun in the pool.
Last summer, Sylvie was still scared to put her face under the water. We took 8 weeks of swim lessons and that face never once went under the water!
Fast forward to this summer..Sylvie was ready to swim! She loved going underwater and loved being thrown over and over (and over and over and over) in the pool.
Especially her Daddy's "super duper rooper" high throws.
Thomas got in surf time too. Our previous trips to Cabo have been in the winter, when the good surf beaches were on the other side of the peninsula, about an hour by car. But in summer the surf was just down the beach and Thomas could even walk to a great surf spot.
It's good to be home, but what a fantastic vacation!
