Summer To-Do List #25: Sew Skirts

Since I'm a beginning sewer and trying to teach myself, I made a rule that I can only sew from fabric I already own or dirt-cheap fabric. Since I make a lot of mistakes, there is just no point in spending a lot of money on fabric. And I am actually finding it to be a pretty fun challenge to come up with inexpensive or reused fabrics.

Here are two skirts I sewed for Sylvie to practice waistbands and pleats.

Skirt #1 is made of a piece of an Ikea curtain that had been sitting around unused.
Skirt #2 is made from a Target dishtowel purchased for $2.99.

My sewing skills still need a lot of work but fortunately Sylvie loves comfy skirts so much that a few mistakes don't bother her at all.

My mom really wants to do that sewing night and my mother-in-law wants to come too, she just got a new machine and needs some tips. Let's work something out, would be fun!
