Sylvie and I took a Nature Class when she was 18 months to 2 that we loved (Nature Class related posts here and here). It's taught by a great teacher and there are stories, songs, animals to touch and observe and hikes...what more could a kid want? I was excited to get to take the class with Nora and even more excited when I saw that the class is for kids up to 5 and it worked with Sylvie's school schedule. So Nora and Sylvie started their Nature Class together last week and it is just as great as I remembered it.
Last week's theme was bugs. We heard a story and learned fascinating and disgusting facts about rollie pollies (they shed their skin, then eat it - yum!). And the girls each got a little bug observatory to catch, observe and release bugs.
Sung to the tune of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat":
Never, never squash a bug,
They're Mother Nature's friends.
Catch one in a plastic jar,
Then let it go again.
All week, bug hunting with their new bug jars has been the hot activity around here.
