We are taking a year off from birthday parties this year, so Nora's party was a family affair. Her birthday fell on a Friday, so we invited the family over for Friday night dinner. Since Norsie loves her trips to "Jessie's Farm" where Jessie lets her sample as many strawberries as she wants, we went with a strawberry theme for her dinner.
Sylvie felt strongly that there should be a pinata, but I couldn't see filling an entire pinata for Sylvie, Nora and Cousin Amanda. So we decided to make small, individual pinatas instead, which we made with paper mache.. This was a really fun, messy project.
We made our pinatas look like strawberries to fit the theme and filled them with fruit snacks, chocolates, crayons, plastic bugs and bouncy balls.
Norsie opened her presents, including this beautiful box her Papa made for her with a cat on the top...
and her name on the inside.
For dinner, we started off with strawberry fruit salsa with cinnamon chips and then had grilled chicken, grilled strawberries, and brown rice, tomato and basil salad. After dinner, the kids cracked opened their pinatas.
And then, birthday cake!
Thank you, family, for helping to celebrate our sweet Norsie's birthday!
