New Year's Eve

On New Year's Eve we had a cozy night in with my parents, Uncle Rich, and our friend Dylan and family. We rang in the New Year this way last year too and it has become a tradition that we really look forward to. We had so much good food, lots of fun and Sylvie discovered her deep, deep love for Pictionary. And yes, everyone (except Nora) did make it to midnight!

4th of July

Happy Independence Day! We spent our 4th down at the Bay with Grandma, Papa, Uncle Rich and friends. We got there around 12:30 and stayed for the fireworks at 9! We put Sylvie in her bed a little after 10 and she was asleep approximately 30 seconds later (and so was Daddy). A long, fun and exhausting day.

Sylvie did get in a little nap though. We thought she wouldn't, given all the action, but we forgot about the powers of Grandma the Hypnotist.
Sylvie loves a football, just like her Dad.
Our friends Jake and Staci...Sylvie attended their wedding when she was 12 days old and now they are expecting her new friend in October!

Mother's Day '09

We celebrated Mother's Day this year with a nice, relaxed brunch over at Uncle Nils and Aunt Kim's house. Nils and Kim have an awesome kid-friendly backyard complete with sandbox, slide and pool, what could be better? We started off with a little sandbox and slide, followed by a scrumptious brunch cooked by Thomas and Nils.

Sylvie had sort of a one-track-mind through it all though and that track was: GET ME IN THAT POOL. So after brunch, pool time was on.
I love being this kid's Mom! Happy Mother's Day to all you fabulous Mamas!

Friends Thanksgiving '08

Yesterday was our 5th annual Friends Thanksgiving potluck. We are so happy every year to celebrate the blessing of friendship, and what a fantastic 5 years it's been. Sylvie and I decided to make a banana pudding for the little ones (and the big ones liked it too!). Here is Sylvie helping mama. As you can see, she is a truly indespensible helper.Sylvie kicked off the party with a little dress-up...
After a yummy dinner, she enjoyed a story with her grown-up friend Mike and then a bath with her baby friend Aaron.
A picture of the ladies...This morning, Sylvie thought her daddy's idea to have some leftover apple pie for breakfast sounded just excellent.
Check out more pictures over on Mattie's blog and check out pictures of last year's Friends Thanksgiving.

The middle photo is Sylvie and I with cousins Brooke, Natalie, Sabrina, Courtney and Amanda. And the bottom photo is Sylvie with her Aunt Kim. Friends Thanksgiving

Five years ago we started a tradition of getting together with friends for a Thanksgiving potluck every year. This year's "Friends Thanksgiving" was celebrated yesterday. It is such a fun tradtion and it was even more special this year with the addition of two new babies, Sylvie and her friend Mattie. The top picture is Sylvie and I with Mattie and her mom Jenny. The bottom picture is Sylvie ending the evening with a bedtime story from our friend Emily. A photo album of pictures from this year's Friends Thanksgiving is here.

Rosh Hashanah

Yesterday was Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. Sylvie and I celebrated at our temple's "Adventure in the Park" service for kids. Grandma and Grandpa came along too. Here is Sylvie relaxing with Grandpa while they listen to a story about how humans must be responsible caretakers of the earth. What an excellent way to start the new year.
