The Heat Wave Continues

Yesterday was another scorcher, but we were a little more prepared. The day before, despite the sweltering heat, I had failed to alter dinner plans and made chicken pot pies in the oven as planned (the Barefoot Contessa version, which, like every one of her recipes, are fabulous).* It is a very bad move to make dinner in the oven when it's in the high nineties outside. Very bad.

So last night not only did we make a completely oven-free meal, but we ate it outside, naked. OK, only one of us was naked. Can you guess which one?
And, even better, that morning, Sylvie and I made extra breakfast smoothie and froze it in our popsicle molds.
When you're almost 2, I don't think life gets much better than a naked popsicle on a hot night.
*If you decide to make the Barefoot Contessa pot pies, here are a few things I do to make is a faster, weeknight friendly meal: (1) I make it only when I already have cooked chicken I need to use; (2) I use Trader Joe's frozen Organic Foursome (carrots, peas, corn and green beans) for the veggies, and; (3) I use Trader Joe's frozen puff pastry on top. Yummy.
