We got an awesome view of the lions. See that big guy back there? And just after I took this picture, his lady friend came over too.
This is as close to the pandas as we got. The panda line was way too long for the 2 year old attention span (grown-ups too, actually).
We celebrated the birthdays with a special dinner. Our friend Zoe is 6, can you believe it???

My favorite moment at the Zoo was when we told Sylvie we were going to the okapis. Sylvie is a huge okapi fan, but she's never seen one live. Thomas and I last went to the SD Zoo when I was just pregnant. We bought Sylvie a stuffed okapi, which has become a very treasured friend. So when she heard the okapis were next, Sylvie ran through the Zoo crowd screaming "okapis! okapis!" When we got there though the okapis were pretty far away and no matter how many times Sylvie yelled, "okapis! come!" they just didn't listen. But on our way out of the Zoo, looking through the gift shop, we found these...
OKAPI SHOES!! Sylvie's face pretty much says it all. She was so thrilled. Sizing was limited, so yes, those are really large. They will be part of the dress-up box for a long time to come.
