Hanukkah: Night One

Hanukkah is here! It is so much fun to be celebrating this year with a 2.5 year old that totally gets the excitement, helps glitter the decorations, make the cards, decorate the cookies and wrap the presents!

We kicked off 8 festive nights by having Grandma, Papa, Uncle Rich and Hank over for dinner. We ate linguine with steamed clams, not exactly traditional, but it's Sylvie's favorite dinner. Plus, tomorrow night is Grandma and Papa's annual Hanukkah party so we will be eating all of that good traditional Hanukkah food tomorrow.

Sylvie's Papa made her a menorah of her very own! What a special gift.
We made Hanukkah cookies...
And decorated Hanukkah cookies...
And we opened quite a lot of presents. Uncle Rich gave Sylvie many of the books that have been on her wish list. Here she is reading Knuffle Bunny with her Papa. [We have checked out Knuffle Bunny soooo many times from the library. Thanks, Uncle Rich!]
Papa also made Sylvie a fridge and freezer to match the kitchen he made her for her birthday! What a fortunate kid to have such a talented Papa. Grandma and Papa also gave Sylvie lots of food, so her fridge is stocked!
From Mommy and Daddy, a new book and some Curious George band-aids. The band-aids were Daddy's idea and they were a big hit.
What a way to kick off Hanukkah!

And a few random thoughts:
- Last week we had the family over to celebrate Beste's birthday. I neglected to take any pictures, good thing Cousin Amanda has some.

- Remember the photo clock we made for Papa for his birthday? I love this version. What a cool gift that would be, and so inexpensive.

- Yesterday Sylvie picked up a cookbook, turned a few pages and said, "Mama, what's the point?" Where the heck did my 2 year-old learn "what's the point?"
